It was Australia's best day at the Olympics so far, with golden girls Sally Pearson and Anne Meares winning gold.
Pearson embraced her nerves and ran her second-fastest time ever to win the gold in the 100m hurdles ahead of former champion, Dawn Harper.
Meares put the disappointment of the keirin behind her as she outrode rival Victoria Pendleton for the sprint gold medal.
Teammate Annette Edmondson won bronze in the omnium earlier and Chris Hoy won his sixth gold medal to become Britain's most successful Olympian.
