In a day of wet conditions and stage fright, the Australian men's relay team left fans shocked when they failed to place in the 4x100m freestyle relay which they were tipped to win.
The pool still provided Australia with two medals though as Alicia Coutts won bronze in the 100m butterfly and Christian Springer took out the silver in the 100m breaststroke.
Today’s crowd favourite was single sculls rower Hamadou Djibo Issaka of Niger, who crawled to the finish line in last place. "You can do it," roared the announcer at Dorney Lake.
