Australia might not boast enormous success in any of the gymnastics events that will take place in London, but they're well position to strike.

The Aussie's Artistic and Rythmic gymnasts dominated at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, heightening expectations on the eve of the Summer Games. Ji Wallace remains our only gymnastics medallist, jumping his way to a silver when trampolining made its Olympic debut in Sydney in 2000.

A genuine gold medal threat on the floor and beam. No other competitor around the world could match Mitchell's degree of difficulty on the floor at last year's world championships, and if she gets it right, Australia could have its first female gold medallist.

A repeat of her appearance in the all-around final at last year's world championships would be a tremendous achievement, but it her role as the lead-out performer for the Australian team which will be most crucial in London.
