The countdown to the season decider is underway and footy fans can't wait for the kickoff.
If the record crowds associated with last week's finals weren't enough, the full house at ANZ Stadium will ensure there's plenty of excitement, thrills and celebrations on hand.. for one team anyway. And what a game it promises to be.
Good luck!

Finally we'll get to know just who will earn bragging rights for 2009.
But there's already hundreds of thousands of fans who disagree that Sunday evening's winner is actually the best team of the year. Well let's look at it. The Dragons and Bulldogs were actually the most consistent teams of the season, and in any other year, they would have booked a spot in the big one - but this year is different.
Now the last time these two teams met, the Eels earned bragging rights with a two point win, 18-16 at Parramatta Stadium. And while that may add plenty of confidence to the Eels camp, it should be stressed Melbourne were without two or three of their stars, and one was very expensive - Cameron Smith. But it wasn't just his creativity that was sorely missed on the night. Both teams scored three tries, but with Smith's accurate goalkicking missing, the Storm suffered. But come kickoff this weekend, history won't mean a thing.
The game will be one by the team that consistently batters their opposition's attack. Melbourne can't afford to fall a little short in that area, especially considering the confidence they are currently displaying through their attacking weapons Jarryd Hayne, Feleti Mateo and Luke Burt. If the Eels defence is slow to react, or a little too nervous, then the Slater and Inglis show will once again be put into action.
So who's going to win? Well this season common sense doesn't seem to have played too much of a role in the outcome of matches, but I'm backing Melbourne in this one. The Eels will be strong, but perhaps the big match atmosphere will judge the outcome. Should be a beauty. |
