The Australian Rugby League Commission is set to ban the shoulder charge for the 2013 NRL season on the back of medical advice that the risk of serious injury was too great as a result of a no-arms tackle.
Some of the game’s biggest stars have come out in support of the much-maligned technique, saying that it’s the gladiatorial aspect that fans love and it should remain legal.
