Casey Stoner might have been denied a fairytale ending to his MotoGP career, but he left the sport with few regrets.

A two-time world champion, Stoner entered retirement with a third-placed finish, his 69th career podium, at an incident-packed Valencia MotoGP.

While frustrated by not winning, Stoner said he was happy with the final chapter of a career that included an extraordinary six successive Australian MotoGP wins.
