FIFA president Sepp Blatter says Frank Lampard's notorious non-goal against Germany at the 2010 World Cup is the reason that goal-line technology is to be installed later this year.
It is an emormous change for football's governing body, who have resisted using technology despite a number of controversies marring big matches in the last decade.
Hawk-Eye and GoalRef systems will be trialled at the Club World Cup in December before being used in the Confederations Cup next year and then the 2014 World Cup.
Frank Lampard was denied this goal in the World Cup quarter-final against Germany.
