Sam Stosur provided one of the highlights of the year when she won her first grand slam title at the US Open.

The 27-year-old became the first Australian women's grand slam champion since Evonne Goolagong Cawley way back in 1980.

The men's was all about Novak Djokovic, who had an unbelievable year, winning three grand slams on his way to the world No.1 ranking.
