SA unsure about Cutting away from Gabba
10:59 AEST Sat Nov 7 2009

South Australian coach Mark Sorell has questioned whether Queensland paceman Ben Cutting can reproduce his match-winning feats away from home.

Cutting sliced through Tasmania at the Gabba last week, taking a career best 6-37 to spearhead his state to an outright triumph.

The emerging 22-year-old quick has taken 21 wickets from six first class matches.

But ahead of SA's Sheffield Shield clash against Queensland at Adelaide Oval starting Sunday, Sorell has queried whether Cutting will struggle away from the favourable fast bowling conditions in Brisbane.

"Ben has been pretty impressive, his returns have been good," Sorell said.

"He seems to get the ball in good areas at a reasonable pace, he's quite tall and he can swing it around a bit.

"It will be interesting to see if there is any difference in him bowling away from the Gabba, that will be different for him to contend with.

"But he just keeps asking good questions of batters, we respect that, and our batting group will need to be at their best to counter him."

Cutting looms as a trump card in a Shield fixture between two sides full of lesser lights.

"I think we're pretty similar," Sorell said of the two states.

"You don't see the massive big superstar names in the two sides.

"But they have played some good cricket last year in all forms and we have done something similar, so I expect it to be a pretty interesting contest."

The Bulls have recalled paceman Nathan Rimmington from an ankle injury, while the Redbacks have lost Mark Cosgrove due to a hamstring strain.

Teams:

SA: Daniel Harris (capt), Cullen Bailey, Cameron Borgas, Dan Christian, Tom Cooper, Peter George, Jake Haberfield, Michael Klinger, Tim Ludeman, Aaron O'Brien, James Smith, Matthew Weeks (12th man to be named).
