Greenshields humming along in France

French fullback Clint Greenshields faces a dilemma on Saturday: to sing Aussie or French anthem.

As he stands out on Stade Chaterly on Saturday afternoon, French fullback Clint Greenshields will be faced with an unusual dilemma.

Sing the national anthem the Australian-raised flyer has grown up reciting, or try his best with the La Marseillaise ahead of the Four Nations clash in Paris.

"I don't really know the words to the French anthem," Greenshields confessed.

"I know the tune and can hum it.

"I'll obviously be feeling that anthem more than the Australian one but it's going to be a little bit bizarre listening to an Australian anthem and not actually singing it."

While Greenshields admits he is not quite French just yet, he is adapting to the French way of life.

His wife who he married in Coffs Harbour recently has settled in well, and Greenshield's dream of some day having another crack at the NRL is on hold for now.

Having given up a second year at St George Illawarra, Greenshields says he has no regrets at where his rugby league career has taken him.

"The opportunity was too good to pass up," he said of coming to Les Catalans.

"I'm really good friends with (former Les Catalans coach) Mick Potter.

"He got me over here, he spoke to me every week saying 'are you ready to come over'.

"It was more him pulling me over and the opportunity to do a bit of travelling.

"I do enjoy myself - I've seen so many different countries."
