Stoddart gets Wales call
10:44 AEST Wed Nov 4 2009
Mark Jones
Wales winger Mark Jones has been ruled out of the November series after suffering a knee injury.

Morgan Stoddart was called up on Tuesday into Wales's squad for this month's internationals as a replacement for Scarlets colleague Mark Jones.

Wing Jones has been ruled out of the entire November series after suffering a knee injury in training.

His place will be taken by full-back Stoddart, who won the last of his three caps against Canada in Cardiff a year ago.

The 25-year-old Stoddart will report for training on Thursday, then be released back to the Scarlets for their Anglo-Welsh Cup clash against Harlequins on Sunday before rejoining the Wales squad early next week.

Wales assistant coach Rob Howley said: "Morgan is an intelligent attacking player who will provide cover for us across the back three.

"He is a player we know very well, and just as importantly he knows our squad environment very well. He should be able to slot into things fairly quickly," the former Wales and British and Irish Lions halfback added.

Wales begin their November programme against New Zealand at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday, where they will go in search of a first win over the All Blacks in 56 years.

November also sees Wales at home to Samoa, Argentina and Australia.
