Ball boy saves pitch invading puppy

A caring ball boy has saved a pitch invader puppy from a disgruntled footballer during a top-flight match in Bolivia.

Three dogs invaded the pitch in the 57th minute of the match between The Strongest and Universitario on Tuesday, fighting with each other and generally running amok.

With the dogs holding up the game, Univesitario's Argentine midfielder Federico Silvestre decided to take matters into his own hands and try to restrain one of the invaders.

But the intervention did not go as planned with Silvestre grabbing awkwardly at the uncooperative black pooch as it repeatedly nipped the footballer.

Seeing the animal in distress, the ball boy rushed onto the field and broke up the pair, allowing the dog to escape and infuriating the midfielder.

The match eventually resumed and finished in a 2-2 draw, leaving Universitario in second place in the Primera Division, two points ahead of The Strongest.
