Wildcats' man Rogers to call it quits
21:44 AEST Thu Oct 15 2009

Perth Wildcats centre Paul Rogers is expected to announce his retirement from the NBL on Friday morning after scans revealed he needs surgery for a torn triceps.

Rogers has been sidelined since suffering the injury against Townsville earlier this month, with the Cats confirming the 213cm centre is now set for a "lengthy stint" on the sidelines.

Perth will announce Rogers' replacement on Friday at a press conference where the 36-year-old almost certain to also confirm he is hanging up the boots.

It is a sad end for the dual Olympian and 2000 NBL MVP, who worked his way back to peak fitness over the winter after a horror campaign blighted by back and knee injuries last season.

The Wildcats (2-2) sit sixth on the table ahead of Saturday's home clash with Adelaide.
