Angry driver dragged along track by rival's car

American race car driver Derek Stoltz received a shock while celebrating a recent victory, when angry rival Mike Robertson leapt from his car and grabbed on to Stoltz's vehicle, following an earlier incident between the pair during the race.

Spectators at the Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina were stunned when a fuming Robertson left his car and ran after Stoltz during the post-race victory laps.

Robertson was then dragged more than 30 metres as he held on to Stoltz's vehicle, before being flung into the track wall as the winner began to accelerate.

Robertson appeared unharmed and was quickly back on his feet to give chase to Stoltz once again, before finally being stopped by a race official.

Robertson's anger apparently stemmed from an earlier incident that saw Stoltz bump him from behind, causing him to spin out of the race.
