Swedish skier Sverre Liliequist has pulled off a breathtaking acrobatic backflip after sparking a mini-avalanche during a downhill run at the Swatch Skiers Cup in Switzerland.

Footage from the tournament shows the Swedish ace perform a series of turns and jumps on the steep slopes when he sparks a snow drift.

With the mini-avalanche just metres behind him, Lillequist attempts an audacious backflip off an edge.

He lands the remarkable move before skiing away to celebrate with teammates.

Liliequist has won both of his downhill runs so far at the Swatch Skiers Cup, a competition where the best skiers from Europe and America compete in a team format.
