Waratah Atkins cops one week ban
11:17 AEST Wed Feb 6 2013

Waratahs lock Ollie Atkins will miss Saturday's Super Rugby trial match against the Blues after being suspended for one week for dangerous play.

Atkins has been hit with a one week suspension after being found guilty of tackling Melbourne Rebels back-rower Luke Jones in the air in last Saturday's Super Rugby trial.

Atkins was deemed to have tapped or pushed the foot of Jones, who was jumping for the ball in open play, by a judiciary meeting at Australian Rugby Union headquarters in Sydney on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the opening minutes of NSW's 24-16 win over the Rebels in Hobart.

Atkins is suspended from playing for the Waratahs or his Sydney University club side until February 10.
