Manly duo join English club Salford
12:54 AEST Fri Feb 1 2013

Manly's NRL depth will be tested in 2013 after the club released fringe first graders Vic Mauro and Liam Foran to English Super League club Salford City Reds.

Foran, brother of Manly's New Zealand international Kieran, played seven games for the Sea Eagles during a two-year stint at the club while local junior Mauro played 47 games - including coming off the bench in Manly's 2011 grand final win over the Warriors.

Mauro was a bench regular for the Sea Eagles throughout 2012 and his departure, on top of fellow forwards Tony Williams (Canterbury), Darcy Lussick and Daniel Harrison (both Parramatta) means Manly's depth up front will be tested.

"(Mauro) has come right through our junior representative system, from North Curl Curl Knights to winning an NRL grand final, and now he's off to ply his trade overseas," coach Geoff Toovey said.

"I wish both of them the best of luck and look forward to seeing them in action for Salford City."

Manly had recruited Justin Horo, Brenton Lawrence, David Gower, Richie Fa'aoso and Michael Chee-Kam to bolster their forwards.
