Wolff continues as Williams test driver
07:47 AEST Tue Jan 29 2013

Susie Wolff will stay on as a development driver for the Williams Formula One team this season.

Wolff joined Williams last April and helped develop the Williams-Renault FW34 and FW35.

The team said in a statement on Monday that her level of in-car testing will increase this season.

The Scottish driver will be the first to get behind the wheel of the FW35 next month, and will do the majority of aerodynamic testing.

"Susie has proved herself to be a valuable addition to our driver roster and her feedback during simulator sessions is second to none," team technical director Mike Coughlan said.

Wolff is only the fourth woman in a decade to drive an F1 car.

In October, she completed 100km of Silverstone's international circuit and dedicated her experience to Maria de Villota, who lost the sight in her right eye in a crash in July.

"I certainly feel that I've developed a lot as a driver," Wolff said.

"I'm showing that women can play a role at the top level of motorsport."
