Serena shows her stylish side
21:06 AEST Tue Jan 8 2013

She may be the world's best female tennis player but Serena Williams says her passion is fashion.

Williams unveiled her outfit for this year's Australian Open which is conservative compared to some of her past wacky creations.

The 31-year-old will wear a deep purple pleated knit dress with a stripe of neon orange and violet - with no sign of knee high boots or cut-outs.

Gunning for her sixth Australian Open title the American was at a Melbourne shopping centre to launch a sponsor's new training smartphone app.

Over 40 of her fans won a 20 minute work-out with Williams even getting down on her hands and knees to get them into shape.

"I would lie if I say tennis," Williams said when asked what was her passion was.

"I'm a real girly girl so I love fashion."
