Russell traded to Collingwood
15:31 AEST Thu Oct 25 2012

Defender Jordan Russell will get the chance to reinvigorate his AFL career with Collingwood after being traded by Carlton.

Russell, who turns 26 next month, enjoyed a breakout season in 2010, when he was runner-up in the Blues' best and fairest award.

But his career stalled in 2012, when he could only manage seven senior games for a total of 116 with Carlton.

Although he was an unrestricted free agent, Russell was traded to Collingwood for pick 71 in next month's national draft.

Russell is the third experienced AFL player to join the Magpies during the free agency/trade period along with Quinten Lynch (West Coast) and Clinton Young (Hawthorn).
