McDonald suspended until Cox Plate eve
18:52 AEST Sat Oct 13 2012

Gun New Zealand jockey James McDonald will miss next Saturday's Caulfield Cup meeting after being suspended for 14 meetings.

Stewards found McDonald guilty of causing interference to Let Go Lenni and Carringbush Jack when he shifted ground on Ashokan near the 1000m in the Caulfield Guineas.

McDonald can resume riding at the Manikato Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley on October 26, the night before the Cox Plate.

The stewards ruled that the interference was at the high level.

Stewards also suspended Darley Australia's No.1 jockey Kerrin McEvoy for seven meetings for causing interference on Parthian in the Weekend Hussler Stakes.

McEvoy pleaded guilty to the charge and will be free to ride at the Caulfield Cup meeting.

In another key suspension, Steven Arnold will also be sidelined until October 26 for causing interference in the Herbert Power Stakes.
