Pavlovic out indefinitely for Phoenix
17:02 AEST Thu Oct 11 2012

Striker Mirjan Pavlovic's A-League future at Wellington Phoenix is in doubt after news he is not expected to turn out for the club in the immediate future.

The Phoenix released a statement on Thursday saying the 23-year-old Croatia-born footballer has a medical condition which restricts his ability to play professional soccer.

The club says it will make no further comment until the condition is resolved.

Pavlovic has played 26 games for the Phoenix, signing in 2010 on a youth contract after making his A-League debut for the Newcastle Jets the previous year.

He played 16 games last season after breaking his arm 11 days before the October 9 kickoff.

Pavlovic has since been on loan to New South Wales premier league team Sydney United 58 FC.

The Phoenix may look at extending 20-year-old Panamanian Ricardo Clarke's contract.

Lucas Pantelis, who missed last season after rupturing knee ligaments, is still struggling with on-going knee problems and is not expected to feature until later in the season.
