Blackburn in no hurry to find new coach
12:07 AEST Tue Oct 9 2012

Relegated Blackburn Rovers' global advisor Shebby Singh says the club will take their time to appoint a new coach following the resignation of Steve Kean.

Kean, pilloried by many fans during his 21-month reign, said he resigned last month after his position had become "untenable".

Now Rovers, sitting ninth in the second tier Championship, are considering potential successors, including former striker Alan Shearer, ex-midfielder Tim Sherwood and former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson.

"It has been a pleasant surprise despite the club having a lot of negative publicity. I would say it is an important job so I am pleasantly surprised there is a lot of people wanting to be a part of Blackburn Rovers," Singh told Sky Sports News on Monday.

"I would love to do it as soon as possible. It could be one week or three weeks. While we are in a hurry to appoint a new manager, we will not be rushed into it."

He added that names reportedly in the mix constituted a "very interesting mix" of possibilities.

Singh insisted he would not release any names.

However he added: "You can not ask a man of Sven Goran Eriksson's experience to apply for a job. That would be an insult to him. When we deem it fit to speak to someone who is in that category we will make the first approach."

Eric Black is currently caretaker of the side.
