League star plays on with testicle injury

A UK rugby league player ruptured his testicle at the start of the second half of the Super League Grand Final match but continued playing until the match was over.

Warrington Wolves prop Paul Wood was playing against Leeds Rhinos at Old Trafford on October 6 when he suffered the injury. He kept on playing and even did post-match interviews with media without mentioning his injury.

As soon as his media commitments were done Wood went to hospital and had his testicle removed.

"Ruptured my right testicle mate, got a knee 1 minute into the second half, had to have it removed tonight, no mad Monday, gutted," he said on Twitter.

But the 30-year-old was still able to joke about his misfortune.

"Just coming out of hospital to go home … Seriously feel like I've left something?" he tweeted.

Wood told another Twitter user that he had definitely learned his lesson from the incident, tweeting: "Need to wear a box over balls! Ha".

Unfortunately Wood's superhuman efforts were in vain as Warrington was beaten by Leeds 26-18.
