Jamaican athletes suspected of doping
06:09 AEST Thu Oct 4 2012

Two Jamaican track athletes who did not compete at the London Olympics are facing disciplinary action after they tested positive for banned substances at an island meet earlier this year.

Dominique Blake, a 400m runner, has tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a stimulant banned in competition that is commonly used as a nasal decongestant.

This is Blake's second positive test. She was banned for nine months after ephedrine was found in her system in 2006. She went to London but did not compete.

National 800m champ Ricardo Cunningham tested positive for pseudoephedrine, a common cold medication that is banned. He did not make the Olympic team.

A preliminary hearing by Jamaican anti-doping officials was held Tuesday. The next hearing is scheduled for October 17.
