Hutchinson handed Mariners captaincy
15:21 AEST Sat Sep 29 2012

Veteran Central Coast midfielder John Hutchinson will take over the club's captaincy this A-League season following the departure of Alex Wilkinson.

Hutchinson, one of only two foundation players remaining along with Adam Kwasnik, was announced as skipper for the 2012/13 season at a fan day at the training base at Tuggerah on Saturday.

Long-serving captain Wilkinson has joined Korean side Jeonbuk.

"'Wilko' was a true club man, a champion of a guy and he led the team on and off the park," Hutchinson said.

"They're big boots to fill but if I can fill them half way I will do a good job."

Dutch defender Patrick Zwaanswijk was appointed vice captain, with he and Hutchinson heading a leadership group consisting of Daniel McBreen, Josh Rose and Mile Sterjovski.
