Frankel won't race before Champion Stakes

Frankel is to have a racecourse gallop at Newmarket on Saturday week as he builds up to what is likely to be the final start of his career.

Trainer Sir Henry Cecil has decided against giving the unbeaten superstar a run between last month's Juddmonte International Stakes and the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

Instead, he will stretch his legs before racing on the Rowley Mile course.

"All going well, Frankel will have a racecourse gallop at Newmarket at the Rowley Mile racecourse an hour before racing on September 29," the trainer said on his website.

"I am very happy with Frankel's work at this stage."
