Christian pulls off amazing catch
Greg Buckle

If you haven't already seen Dan Christian's catch on the TV news, keep an eye out for it because it's worth a look.

Australia tied their second Twenty20 International against Pakistan in Dubai on Friday night and lost in extra time, scoring 11 from their one-over eliminator before Pakistan hit 12.

But in a game that provided a breathtaking finish, one of the main talking points was the athleticism displayed by Christian at mid-off during Pakistan's innings.

Left-hander Nasir Jamshed popped a catch to long-off and Christian ran back with the flight of the ball from mid-off, diving full-length to catch the ball in the fingertips of his left hand.

Skipper George Bailey says it's the best catch he's seen. Christian was well pleased with his performance and Bailey says that's fair enough.

Whether it compares to Glenn McGrath at Adelaide Oval against England, or John Dyson's famous "goalkeeper" effort in the deep at the SCG against the West Indies, is up for debate.

"It's the best I've seen. Left-handed, wrong hand," Bailey said.

"He hit the ground so hard. I don't understand how it didn't come out when he hit the ground.

"He's got that freakish abilty about him, Dan. He's pretty happy with that, as you should be.

"It was a great catch."
