Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden will be back to defend his title and will have his lead-up run in the Caulfield Cup.
Owner Sheikh Fahad Al Thani's racing manager David Redvers announced the decision via Twitter on Monday.
"Pleased to announce to his legion of fans down under that a decision has been made to send Dunaden down to defend his Crown via Caulfield," Redvers tweeted.
There had been speculation the French horse would bypass Melbourne in favour of Europe's most prestigious race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October.
After winning the Geelong and Melbourne Cups, the Mikel Delzangles-trained Dunaden added the Hong Kong International Vase to his record in December.
He has recorded two thirds and a second from four start since.
