Usain Bolt has gotten into trouble with Olympic officials seconds after helping the Jamaican team win the 4x100m relay after trying to keep the baton as a souvenir.
Video shows the triple Olympic sprint champion jokingly pretend to hand the baton to an official before snatching it away and running off.
When Bolt does stop running, two officials catch up to him and demand he hand the baton over.
After an animated discussion, Bolt finally hands it back and walks away shaking his head, prompting a chorus of boos from the crowd.
But not long after Olympic officials relented and decided to let Bolt keep it.
After the race the track star said the official had told him it was against the rules to keep the baton.
"I got the baton back but at the start he was saying I couldn't keep it because it's the rule," Bolt said.
"It was kind of weird because he actually told me that if I didn't give it back I would be disqualified so I just gave it back to him," he added to laughter.
"I took a picture with the guys, and I am going to frame the picture and put the baton below it — just something to remind me of London."
