Greater Western Sydney teenager Devon Smith is the AFL round 19 Rising Star nominee.

The 19-year-old midfielder is the seventh Giants player to be nominated this season.

Smith kicked two goals in his side's historic first win at home against Port Adelaide at Skoda Stadium last Saturday.

One of the Giants' best players, he finished the game with 21 possessions, eight marks and six tackles.

Smith made his AFL debut in round one and has played 16 games this season, establishing himself in the midfield and forward line with his pace and agility.

Giants coach Kevin Sheedy said Smith had made an excellent debut and was a consistent contributor.

"Devon is hard at the ball but has also shown in recent weeks that he is very handy around goal and this is a terrific reward for all his hard work," Sheedy said.
