Opals' rising star Elizabeth Cambage slam-dunked her way to Twitter fame on Saturday morning.
Tweeters re-christened her 'Slambage' after her stunning third quarter slam-dunk against Russia, spurring the Opals on to win 70-66.
@helpinghoops tweeted: "Congrats to @ecambage for getting non bball people talking about the game #slambage"
@MeganHustwaite wrote: "Slam bam Cambage!!!!!!! Just saw @ecambage's dunk WOW. Rewriting the #olympic record books @AussieOpals style!!"
Elizabeth Cambage was surprised at the response online, tweeting: "LOL I CAN'T BELIEVE #SLAMBAGE IS TRENDING!!!!"
Opals' coach Carrie Graf was also thrilled with the dunk.
"It's wonderful for things like that to happen in women's basketball and if things like that bring more appreciation for the game and more people to see our game, that's a good thing," Graf said.
