AFL season over for Bulldogs' Cross

Western Bulldogs midfielder Daniel Cross suffered an AFL season ending injury against St Kilda.

Courageous Western Bulldogs midfielder Daniel Cross will not play again this AFL season because of a dislocated AC joint.

Cross sustained the injury when he was driven into the ground in a tackle from St Kilda's Beau Wilkes at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Cross was to have surgery on Monday and the club said he would spend up to 12 weeks in rehabilitation.

But Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia had no doubt the consistent 29-year-old would take the same wholehearted approach towards his recovery that he did to every aspect of his career.

"Daniel is a quality person and the consummate professional when it comes to his body and the way he prepares," Fantasia said.

"We expect that from him again with his rehabilitation this time around."

The Dogs' 2008 best and fairest has played 197 games for the club, but will have to wait until next year for his 200-game milestone.
