Godolphin swoop on Dawn Approach

Godolphin has bought a majority share in unbeaten juvenile Dawn Approach, the early favourite for next season's 2000 Guineas.

The son of Derby winner New Approach secured his fourth success from as many starts with a determined display in last week's Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

A statement on the Godolphin website confirmed Dawn Approach would remain in training with Jim Bolger for the rest of the campaign and race in Godolphin's colours.

A decision about his three-year-old career will not be made until "much later" in 2012.

The colt's sire New Approach was trained by Bolger during his two-year-old and three-year-old career, racing during his Classic year in the colours of Princess Haya of Jordan, the wife of Godolphin supremo Sheikh Mohammed.

He now stands at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud and has enjoyed a spectacular first season with Dawn Approach one of three Royal Ascot winners last week.

"It is fantastic how well New Approach has started his stallion career and Dawn Approach appears to have inherited many of his qualities," Simon Crisford, the sheikh's racing manager, said.
