In a statement of intent on the eve of their semi-final clash with Fiji, Steve Price warned Australia would continue their ruthless approach to the World Cup and hunt perfection against the Bati at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday.

Despite an average winning margin of 37 points so far in the tournament, Price is adamant the Australians are yet to show their full hand and are building to better performances in the finals.

"I would like to think we can keep improving," said Price.

"The games we've played together we've built combinations and tried to get a bit more confidence both with and without the ball.

"The attitude is to try and perfect your performance. I don't think there's anyone out on the field that can walk off and say they had a perfect performance.

"You're always trying to improve on what you do and when you represent Australia you always try to put your best foot forward.

"Hopefully the best game for me and all the other guys is still to come." Australia's clash with Fiji is viewed as one of the greatest mismatches in league history with bookmakers offering odds of $34 for a minnow upset and giving the islanders a whopping 50.5 points start in line betting.

The Fijians have never beaten Australia, losing their two recent World Cup clashes 66-0 and 66-8 in the 1995 and 2000 tournaments.

However Fiji are infinitely stronger than previous teams and have impressed many with their resolute defence and flair in attack to qualify for the final four.

But Australia is still expected to win in a canter, although Price knows the consequences could be dire if Fiji produce the biggest upset in international football.

"Well I think it'd probably finish my representative career, that's for sure," said Price.

The veteran prop also rebuked suggestions the result was a fait accompli as bookies and punters believe.

"It's 80 minutes of footy and anything can happen," he said.

"If it was a certainty then we wouldn't be playing the game.

"Those guys are going in with the attitude they're going to play as well as they can to get the result they want and we are as well.

"I'm really hoping it's the green and gold that come out on top but it's going to be up to our attitude, how we play the game and what happens during the game.
