Australia's Vic Darchinyan will enter Sunday's historic super flyweight boxing world title bout against Mexican superstar Cristian Mijares in Los Angeles a massive underdog.
Bookmakers in Las Vegas and Australia have Darchinyan a 2-1 outsider, while Mijares, considered the division's elite fighter, is at the slim odds of 1/3.
A poll of 31 of America's leading boxing writers also gives the Sydney-based fighter little chance of a win, with just six predicting he would be victorious.
The bout, set to go ahead at midday on Sunday (AEDT), is considered historic because the winner will become the division's first unified champion.
Darchinyan is risking his International Boxing Federation belt and Mijares will be putting his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association titles on the line.
The power punching Darchinyan, who has knocked out 24 of his 32 opponents, is furious he has been written off by bookmakers and the boxing press.
"I will prove them wrong," Darchinyan told AAP on the eve of the fight, to be held at LA's Home Depot Center.
"Mark my words."
