Bulldogs name schoolboy for AFL debut
18:38 AEST Fri Jun 6 2008

The Western Bulldogs have named high school student Callan Ward to make his AFL debut, while Andrejs Everitt will play his first game of the season against St Kilda at Telstra Dome on Sunday.

Ward, an 18-year-old midfielder who already lived within walking distance of Whitten Oval before he was drafted last November, has had to fit in AFL training around completing his final year of school.

Everitt played eight matches in his debut season last year, but has had to work his way back in through the VFL after starting the 2008 season sidelined by a knee injury.

The Saints named an unchanged side.

Carlton regained Jarrad Waite from suspension, but lost fellow defender Paul Bower to a shoulder injury in their only change for Sunday's AAMI Stadium clash with Port Adelaide.

The Power regained midfielder Domenic Cassisi from illness, dropping Jacob Surjan.

Fremantle regained veteran midfielder Peter Bell from injury and recalled former Essendon player Mark Johnson and young big man Robert Warnock for Sunday's Gabba meeting with Brisbane.

They dropped Paul Duffield, Byron Schammer and Scott Thornton.

Star forward Jonathan Brown was included in the Lions' side, despite hyperextending his knee last round, but defenders Jason Roe and Ashley McGrath were forced out with hamstring injuries.

Brisbane included James Hawksley for his AFL debut, along with Robert Copeland.
