Jana Rawlinson's racing comeback has been further delayed, with the two-time world 400m hurdles champion bypassing a meeting in New York this weekend.
Rawlinson, who hasn't raced for nine months, was considering a return to racing at Saturday's Reebok grand prix in New York.
But after conceding this week that her preparation wasn't as advanced as she'd like, Rawlinson has now earmarked a race in Turin, Italy, on June 6 as her comeback.
Rawlinson had surgery in January, when cartilage was removed from the second toe on her right foot.
Her Australian-based manager James Ward said Rawlinson had left the United States, where she had been training, for her base in England.
The gold medal hope at the Beijing Olympics this August hasn't raced competitively since September last year, a few weeks after winning her second 400m hurdles world title.
Beijing-bound compatriots Lisa Corrigan and Sarah Jamieson, who was added to the Olympic athletics squad, will race in the 1500m in the IAAF meet in New York.
At the prestigious Golden League series opening meet in Berlin on Sunday, Australia's world indoor champion Tamsyn Lewis will contest the 800m with Queenslanders Sally McLellan (100m hurdles) and Jarrod Bannister (javelin) also to compete.
Donna MacFarlane, selected for the 3000m steeplechase in Beijing, will contest the flat 3000m in Zaragoza, Spain, while Olympic marathoner Benita Johnson is chasing her third Freihofers 5km road race title in New York.
