Stingers go six straight in qualifiers
12:37 AEST Mon May 26 2008

Patrice O'Neill has led the Australian women's water polo team to a 19-3 thrashing of Japan to close out FINA World League qualifying series.

O'Neill top-scored with four goals and Mia Santoromito netted three to secure the Stingers' sixth-straight win for the tournament.

The Stingers have also qualified for the Super Finals in Tenerife, Spain on June 10-15.

The Australians were dominant in the pool, keeping Japan scoreless until the final minutes in the last quarter before a slip in concentration allowed three quick goals to Japan.

The team returns home for a short break before flying to Spain for the Super Finals, after which the team for the Olympic Games in Beijing will be announced.
